The Shining Tongues – Make Us Eat – Press Release

The Shining Tongues - Make Us EatThe second single from Daniel Knowler’s new collaborative project with members of Living With Eating Disorders, The Infinite Three, RobinPlaysChords.

Single release: 24th September 2020
Label: Actual Size Music
More info:

In March 2020 Daniel reconnected with Infinite Three bassist Sam Mclaughlin to begin a new collaborative project. Taking their previous band’s post-punk urgency and adding an atmospheric gothic folkiness along with elements of drone-rock, psychedelia, spiritual jazz and soundtrack music.

Second single, Make Us Eat was written and recorded in March 2020, just as London entered lockdown and the world began to feel like an eerily distant place. The song captures a sense of social and political entropy, with a few rays of hope and joy shining through.

Recording was completed remotely with contributions from Robin Jax of RobinPlaysChords (additional guitars) and Andrea Kerr of Colt / Living With Eating Disorders (backing vocals).

The Shining Tongues – Will She Sleep – Press Release

Debut single from Daniel Knowler’s new collaborative project with members of Alabama 3, This Is Radio Silence, The Infinite Three, Tilt.

Single release: 14th August 2020
Label: Actual Size Music
More info:

The Shining Tongues, a band born in the depths of lockdown, is the first new project from The Infinite Three’s Daniel Knowler since the tragic death of drummer Paul Middleton in 2019.

Debut single “Will She Sleep” is released 14th August through Actual Size. An altogether earthier experience than Daniel’s previous music, “Will She Sleep”s post-punk hooks are embellished with a playfully gothic folkiness, winding down to a pounding sludge-rock finale. The single will be available from the band’s Bandcamp page as well as all the usual download and streaming services.

“I began writing these songs as solo acoustic pieces just as life in London was becoming more and more like a 1970s public information film. I needed a way to make the music less solitary so I began remotely collaborating with some truly amazing musicians who helped to orchestrate and expand the songs into huge cosmic lumps of light.”

“Will She Sleep” features contributions from Alabama 3’s Orlando Harrison, Robin Jax of RobinPlaysChords, Artur Hajdasz of Made In Poland & Tilt and Daniel’s fellow Infinite Three alumni, Sam Mclaughlin.

New Music

Daniel Knowler and Samuel Mclaughln Dear friends. Just a short note to inform you that myself and Sam are currently in the process of makng a new record. We’ve been working remotely via the miracle of the internet, collaborating with some fine musicians including Robin Jax (of RobinPlaysChords) and Orlando Harrison (of Alabama 3, The Amal Gamal Ensemble and others).

The new project/band is, as yet, un-named (any suggestions are welcome!) but it’s becoming far more richly orchestrated and sonically luxurious than our previous adventures as The Infinite Three.

If there’s an interest or desire from your good selves I may post some unadorned demos of the new songs here or elsewhere in the coming weeks. If that’s something you’d like to hear, let me knowlet me know.

Under usual circumstances, at this stage I’d be looking to put together a live band and start arranging a tour for later in the year – who knows when such things will resume? Anyway – as soon as I decide on a name, expect a polite yet forceful barrage of further information.
